Today has been a very challenging day for me. My mind just can't seem to focus on any one thing. It is flying all around inside my head like an inflated balloon that was just let go. I normally would be all right with this but today instead of just spewing nonsense that I can just ignore its yelling things I want and love. It's giving me millions of ideas for my up coming Nanowrimo book, telling me songs that I can sample and put beats to in my new semi-hobby, screaming to go outside and take pictures of everything and I mean everything...I don't really know how to handle all of these artistic notions being pushed on me all at once and on top of all that my girlfriend is super sick and there is nothing I can do about it but worry....So on with my new ideas.
The ideas for my new book are really cool and I want to explore them more before I start so I thought why not do it here where no one will see it. ;)
You don't know what the old idea was but I'm still going to refer to it as the new idea while I talk. So my new idea is to have a late 20 something male who owns a comic book shop who has many bad run-ins with love finally come face to face with it. So I have been kicking around the idea of having two main characters and have the book switch back and forth between them and have them both written in first person so we really get a sense of the relationship from both sides. Also if you know me at all, you know that I am a huge Batman fan and like most REAL Batman fans I love Frank Millers: The Dark Knight Returns. In this book he writes Batman's inner monolog like no one ever had before. It tells an amazing story about how he feels as returning to the streets after a long hiatus and dealing with being old and still kicking ass. This book shaped how I think about the character and I want to add a little of that into my book. I want my characters to tell their own story on top of the main love story. I also want to make the relationship real and how they might deal with long distance and how they spent the first year of their lives together just searching each other out over the internet.
That's one of the big ideas I have kicking around in my head. Also I am hoping to do a weekly podcast during Nanowrimo to get updates from the people I'm writing with and I would love to just talk about writing and literature with anyone who wants to talk. I really kind of want to start a weekly comics Podcast too but talk about all things that go along with it as in: the art, the writing, the paneling, and the mythos. If you want ti
